Evaluation Question 5 Script
Our target audience is teenagers and young adults between the ages of 15 to 25. Because of this we added elements that they can take pleasure in. Of course violence appeals to our audience as it is particularly thrilling keeping them engaged and guessing whats next to come. We also used a plot twist to keep that audience self-guessing themselves, meaning they are outsmarted by the thriller. This also increases the element of suspense. They key conventions that we used fits in with this: violence, plot twists, suspense, action and villains.
My film has only one genre and that is a thriller. As shown in my eveluation question 1 there are a number of films that are influential to my thriller. One example is American Sniper, we took the concept of sniping as we thought it was suspensful and re-wired the idea to create something new. American Sniper is a hybrid film made up of drama/action and war.
The thriller is set in a countryside environment and is very much separated from people. I feel the setting very much appeals to the audience because it is a quiet place which raises the suspense and keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. A teenage target audience wants to be kept entertained or else they will be distracted from the movie.
The narrative in our thriller has many tense plot twists and climactic build ups. At the end the sniper shoots his trainee recruit, taking a well found partnership and turning it into murder with no remorse, creates attraction to the audience to see how the plot develops further.
We used no music in our thriller to highlight the quiet atmosphere and environment that creates the intensity. When placing in the titles we made certain that we used a font that is easy to read and fits with the genre. The font we used was courier new regular hard drop shadow. We ensured the titles were displayed for a period of time that is long enough for slow readers to understand and process, but quick enough so the fast readers don't get bored. This also applies with the names od stars. We did not create a logo for our film as we felt it was individual on its own.
To appeal to the audience we used CGI to add effects onto the film. We created a gunshot wound to exaggerate the impact of the shot. We also added a sniper scope over the point of view shots to create realism for the audience.
